29 JunWhat to do if you break a nail

You have been trying to grow your nails for quite some time, or you have always had them long and then suddenly you go and break one which ruins the whole look of your hand. So what should you do to try and disguise it as much as you can?

Well there are a few options. Firstly you can try and glue it back with special glue that is on the market precisely for these occasions. Glue the broken part as accurately as you can onto to existing nail, buff the join slightly once it has dried and then paint two coats of nail polish over to hide the join as much as possible. Within about two to three weeks the existing nail will have grown and you can discard the broken bit.

Another is to buy a packet of false nails and use these for the three weeks that the broken nail is growing. They come in a transparent colour, with a tube of special glue and usually with a white tip as in a French Manicure. Just use the glue to fix them all into place and when they are dry you can file them to the shape that you want that suits your hands and apply nail polish as normal.

These false nails are quite resilient to water and strong enough to be used in every day life but don’t push them too hard like trying to scratch a stubborn label off a product or else the nail will most probably fall off.

And lastly if you have no other choice it is better to file all the nails down a little, maybe not as short as the broken one, but enough so that the difference between 9 long nails and 1 short one is not so noticeable.
